Why finance teams choose Charted over Zone & Co.

Charted is built on modern SuiteApp architecture that NetSuite actively develops. Zone & Co. runs on legacy bundle technology with core features flagged as “not Built for NetSuite compliant.

Charted delivers end-to-end AP automation from a single, purpose-built platform. Zone & Co. is a patchwork of acquisitions cobbled together over time, creating a fragmented user experience and disjointed workflows.

Charted emerged from a NetSuite consultancy with decades of ERP experience. Our NetSuite-certified experts provide hands-on implementation and ongoing support that prioritizes your workflow efficiency.

Customer success story

There is a scope difference between Charted and Zone & Co. Zone & Co. covers a broad finance stack across billing, payroll, reporting, and AP, built out in part through acquisitions. Charted does one thing: the complete AP lifecycle, built entirely for NetSuite.

That shows up in two practical places. Zone AP Payments is electronic only, so if check printing matters for part of your vendor base, Charted covers that rail inside NetSuite. Charted automates expense accruals from your existing NetSuite data as part of the core AP workflow, so month-end estimates are not a separate manual exercise. Charted has expanded e-invoicing capabilities significantly to cover multiple markets across Europe.

Zone has an established global payment solution for AR as well as broad e-invoicing coverage. If your priority is closing faster with fewer AP tools, Charted is the better fit.

Yes, Charted is SOC 2 certified and undergoes regular independent audits to maintain that certification. Documentation is available on request via the Charted trust website where you can initiate the request process.

Because Charted is a native NetSuite SuiteApp—fully embedded inside your NetSuite instance, not a separate integration—it operates under Oracle’s SOC 1 compliance program in the same way any NetSuite customization does, making Charted AP Automation SOC 1 compliant as well. Charted is also GDPR ready.

Charted Accrual Automation speeds up your month end with smart accruals built off of your NetSuite data, ensuring it’s always accurate and up-to-date. Cut your accrual processing time by up to 75% and eliminate reconciliation errors with a system embedded inside your NetSuite instance.

Zone & Co. does not offer an accrual solution.

Charted Approval Automation enables sophisticated approval workflows directly within NetSuite, allowing employees to approve transactions via email without requiring NetSuite licenses. You can configure approval rules based on amounts, departments, subsidiaries, or custom criteria, with complete audit trails maintained within NetSuite records for compliance requirements.

Zone & Co. offers bulk approvals and approval via email, as well as flexible approval matrices, however the approval matrix administration can be difficult to scale and does not support CSV imports for approver data.

Charted Invoice AI layers an advanced AI model on top of best-in-class OCR (optical character recognition) technology to create a data extraction engine that learns from your business over time, improving accuracy as your team continues its use. It’s further enhanced by multi-language capabilities and natural language instructions.

Zone & Co. has issues pulling data accurately, especially custom fields and character-based languages. Zone & Co. struggles to pull line items that differ from vendor bills, which Charted handles with ease.

Both companies operate globally and both offer e-invoicing, importing electronic invoices directly into NetSuite. Both products ensure electronic invoices are maintained through your already established workflows, live in the same AP inbox, and are included in your audit trails kept in NetSuite.

Zone & Co. both sends and receives e-invoices, while Charted currently on receives e-invoices. Zone & Co. provides e-invoicing in markets where mandate timelines are being finalized, like France. Charted has launched e-invoicing across Europe; it is currently available in Belgium, Germany, France, Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Finland, with further expansion planned for Italy, Romania, and Poland.

Charted organizes AP workflows to make sense for AP teams. The new Charted inbox offers customizable columns, segmented views, custom invoice labels, bill previews, and comments and @mentions on any invoice keeping every conversation in NetSuite, all changes made with the way AP teams function in mind. Zone & Co. functionality is scattered, creating a disjointed experience that slows AP teams down.
